Is marriage something we should all hope to achieve someday?

So many people I know put so much emphasis on romantic relationships and on marriage. Is being single really that bad? I've never had a relationship so it kind of seems like I might be destined to be single my entire life. Should we all dream and fantasize about one day getting married?
